Cigar Smoking World Championship

For months, cigar lovers have been puffing away around the world to win themselves the chance to compete in the ultimate smoking showdown; the Cigar Smoking World Championship. Qualifying rounds have taken place everywhere from Canada to Thailand, in preparation for the grand finale which is being held later this year in Split, Croatia between the 31st August and 2nd September.

Not to worry if you haven’t had the chance to put your puff to the test, as registration for the championship is open to all, from novices to those not quite winning the national level crown. To be named world champion you will have to smoke a set cigar for as long as possible. While the competition task may sound simple, the reality of reaching the crown will certainly not be an easy feat, with the time to beat being an incredible 186 minutes and 15 seconds!

It’s not just about the competition though, as the championship sees a full weekend programme of events in place to keep all cigar aficionados entertained. Meet cigar lovers from all around the world on the Friday night, with a welcome evening gala dinner, complete with rum, champagne and, of course, plenty of cigars, accompanied by live music performances. The Saturday sees the actual championship take place, but once you’ve finished smoking for the top spot, there are plenty of pairings to try, cocktails to sip, and workshops to find out more about the stogies you know and love! The final day, Sunday 2nd, will see you sailing away to a nearby island for the day, before returning for an exclusive Havana Party held on Bacvice Beach!

If you are looking to take part or attend, then a weekend package, excluding accommodation, costs €360 for those competing, and €320 for those who want to watch the events take place. There are a limited number of competing places, so if you do want to get involved then the sooner the better! If you’d rather spend all of that money (or less!) on cigars to enjoy at home, then check out the full range of cigars online at Havana House!
